About FormForge

FormForge is a free, no-signup library of Google Docs templates for small business. We believe the basic paperwork that keeps a business running — invoices, contracts, proposals, HR forms — should be a commodity, not a subscription.

Why we built this

The small businesses we know — the agencies, the freelancers, the local trades, the two-person consultancies — spend a surprising amount of time wrestling with documents. They cobble together invoices in Word. They re-write the same NDA from scratch every quarter. They borrow a contract from a friend who borrowed it from someone else. None of that is a great use of operator time, and most of it ends with a document that looks slightly worse than it should.

FormForge exists to stop that cycle. Every document on this site is structured the way a small business actually uses it, plainly written, and ready to copy directly into your own Google Drive. There is no signup, no email gate, no premium tier, and no upsell. The templates are free because they should be.

Our principles

• Plain language. A contract that nobody reads is a contract that nobody enforces. We favor clarity over legalese.
• One job per template. A good template solves one specific situation well. We avoid kitchen-sink documents that try to cover every possible edge case.
• No tracking gates. No newsletter signups, no "drop your email to download," no account walls. Click and use.
• Honest about scope. These are templates, not legal advice. We say so clearly and we recommend a real attorney for anything high-stakes.

How the catalog is built

We curate the catalog by hand, organized by the real jobs small businesses do — billing, hiring, selling, planning, reporting. We pull patterns from open small-business resources like the US Small Business Administration's planning guides, the IRS forms library, and well-established HR and legal practices that have been refined over decades. Then we restructure each one into a clean, modern Google Docs format.

Templates are a starting point, not legal counsel. For anything where the stakes are real — significant contracts, employment disputes, regulated industries — please involve a licensed attorney.
